sPRING 2019

This spring a Voller violin came in for restoration. It had had an accident that had made a kind of drip damage on the front, and the back centre joint had come open. Here you see some before and after photographs:
After the Voller violin I had been hoping to have a chance for some more progress on my own two new violins, but they have been pushed to the back of the queue. A modern baroque cello came in with a broken neck:

To make a stable repair in this case you have to make a new neck. That means taking the remains of the old neck out of the mortise in the cello, and fitting a new neck between the scroll and the cello body. Here you see the process:
